A good friend built this extension for the left hand end of the layout. Just in time for our first true operating session today (more on that in the next post). This gives fourteen more inches of track at the end of the main/lead down by Allied Chemical, which now allows three cars and a locomotive to fit.
I’ll get to the photos in a second. The extension was made of plywood with Masonite around the sides, with a lip around the track itself so nothing goes off the deep end. It’s simply clamped on the existing layout with two C clamps, and is wired into the existing bus at this end of the layout. This worked great today for the session. I can’t thank Tom C. enough for building this and installing!
I’ll soon ballast this piece to match the rest of the track. Stay tuned….!
I remember the MR Beer line having something like that.
