This week finds us following both the Nitro turn and the Spring Street turn once again. We had planned to follow the Hitop turn again up into the hills, but we were a little late getting over to Dickinson yard.
We took off towards the Nitro yard office and caught Alco 9806 pulling cars out of Holsum Baking as pictured below:
After pulling two loads from Paxton Salvage, putting his train together and pumping up his air, we caught the turn departing and headed for Spring Street yard. We then followed the turn up the valley to Spring Street as shown below:
After spotting his cars for the Spring Street turn and moving to the service track, we drove down to Dickinson yard to see where the Spring Street turn was. Apparently being delayed, the turn was still in Dickinson yard working his train. We did video the turn pulling most of his train out of track 4 as seen below:
Finally, we drove back up to Spring Street to catch the turn arriving, working his outbound cars, then we followed him back to Dickinson yard, catching him arriving back in the yard, all pictured below:
Another day of railfanning in the Kanawha Valley….
