Yesterday, I started working on the H10-44 as shown in my previous post. First was taping off all the window glass and headlights. I then sprayed the entire locomotive with two coats of grimy black made by Vallejo.
I like their grimy black, as it already gives a faded, weathered look to a locomotive. Today early, I sealed everything, then after drying this afternoon pealed off all the tape. Touch up around the window frames and headlight casings came next.
Afterwards, I applied rust spots along the top of the roof line, and started applying rust on the radiator vents, using Vallejo rust texture. Finally, for today, I sprayed the handrails plus horn, plus rusted the couplers. Shown below is how the locomotive looks this evening:
